Knock, knock… Anybody home?
I could go into a very long and drawn out explanation of where and what I’ve been up to for the last several weeks, but you would likely be bored to tears. Lets just say work is the culprit and a very intermittent internet connection isn’t helping.
Joe has a discussion going on over at his blog about potential fiber blog awards. Check it out and toss your two cents into the pool. I think it is a great idea to reward people for their well thought through contributions to our little online fibery community and if you think so too, raise your voices.
As I’ve mentioned (repeatedly and with much whining) I am still here in Syracuse for a few weeks, much to the chagrin of Mr. Knittiot who likes it better when I’m nearby (the feeling is mutual, my dear!). I am staying with some friends who, after watching me work for a few nights, asked if I would be willing to recreate a dance costume for them. My friend’s husband is from West Africa and is a (phenomenal) professional dancer and drummer. One of his costumes is starting to seriously deteriorate and since they won’t be making it back home for awhile, they asked if it was something I thought I could do. Never one to say no, I am knee deep in the trenches of costume recreation.
As it turns out, the technique used to create the original is called netting and involves intricate placement and tying of knots. This is the same technique used to create fishing nets and also hair snoods and so forth. I am, of course, entranced with this new craft and determined to learn it. However, I don’t want my friends to have to wait too long and so I am working with a crochet hook to create a very similar netting which is working out quite nicely. I have no pictures at present, but they shall follow soon.
My at work knitters continue to make excellent progress and a few of them have already been asked to create items by family members and friends and they are beside themselves with excitement.
I am nearly halfway through this extremely busy month and am looking forward to getting back to a more regular schedule and more frequent posts starting in January.

I second Franklin’s comment, but have to think, that the soonness of the pictures of the knotting costume thing is relative? hahahahaha - just kidding! I hope everything is ok for you, and no tragedies have befallen you to prevent your posting. =) Take care!
