Technological Weirdness

Technology is something I like, but usually only when it is working well, and usually only when I don’t have to think about it too much. When I do have to think about it, I want it to be marveling at some new wonder of this digital world we live in. I certainly don’t want it to be because I have a problem. Nevertheless, I have reconciled myself to the fact that problems will arise, and deal with them I must. So…

As it turns out, getting your own personal domain is not all smooth sailing. And the previously promised automatic redirection isn’t so much automatic or redirecting. As a matter of fact, at the moment it is nothing more than an error message (as you may have discovered). I don’t know if this will change or not, but I suspect it won’t. We are working through some poopiness with the new domain hosting, so please bear with us. I will send out an email to those blogs I know link to the Village with updated URL info. And for those of you with bookmarks that haven’t been able to find me, my sincerest apologies and I’m glad you managed to find us despite the mess!

    Hi, Rachel,

Congratulations on making the leap to your own domain…I’ve corrected the URL in my sidebar file of my blog that no one knows about because it’s not live yet. Talk about poopyness…

I was promised that we would go “live” on Monday, but then I did QA on the test version. Ahem. We will not be going live on Monday. But when we do, you can be assured that the link to your blog will work :-)

May your hosting woes evaporate as rapidly as possible. Yep, technology’s great….

Congrats on getting your own domain! Too freakin’ cool. I’m jealous - but I have several months more with blog-city; maybe if I’m still doing this next year I’ll consider the same.

Oh, I got your comment on my blog and updated my link. I have no idea why your email bounced back. Weird!

I’ll tell you what, the more I deal with ISPs, the more I want to host our sites on my own server. Getting that to pay for itself becomes the issue, I suppose.

I’ve got another avenue to explore to get the sub domain forwarding working again. It’ll be a hack, but at least people won’t think the Knittiot has disappeared.

By the way Ms.K, comment notification should work now. This comment is really just to test that…
